Exporting Facebook contacts to Google+. Facebook > Yahoo > G+ = #win

I was really disapointed when Facebook slammed the door shut on the friend exporter. I don’t even think the app was live for 24 hours before it was blocked. There is a way to bypass Facebooks desire to prevent this from occurring and here you go!

Here is how you can reliablyimport your Facebook friends into Google+1. Set up a Yahoo email address on http://mail.yahoo.com/
2. Click on the Contacts tab in Yahoo Mail and import the contacts from Facebook (see image)
3. Click on the Circles tab in Google+ and connectYahoo Mail (see image)While the import step 2. is manual, and you might want to periodically repeat it, the connection on step 3. o Yahoo Mail and Google+ is automatic, and persistent.

You will find the new contacts coming from Facebook automatically suggested by Google and you can drag them into the circle of your choice!

You can also EXPORT the contacts as a CSV file in Yahoo Mail then Import them into Gmail. You may want them there anyway, I created a new group called Facebook when I did it so I could best organize them.

Unable to exporto contacts on a CSV file froma Yahoo the anwer says:

To facilitate the security of information entered into this Web site, the author does not allow content to display in a frame. You can try:   Open this content in a new window. I open the excel file and there is only such test :   First,"Middle","Last","Nickname","Email","Category","Distribution   Lists","Messenger   ID","Home","Work","Pager","Fax","Mobile","Other".... ecc ecc Anyone know how to manage this?

Of the 588 contacts I have on FB, it's only allowing me to export 50, and I know many more than that have e-mail info on their profiles.

jesssoul I believe alexschleber experienced this when he exported from Facebook to Yahoo. I believe he did find a work around, I'll see if he'll come and explain how he worked around this.

jesssoul I had to run the import about 4-5 times to grab all of my FB contacts. Just do it several times over, see if that helps.

I've found a WA to export contacts from Yahoo to G+. I'm unable to provide details on how to do this, if you are really interested on it you'll figure it out. BTW, I'm giving clues based on the latest Yahoo GUI.

Skip steps 2 and 4 if you don't mind importing all your yahoo contacts into G+.

1. Import Facebook contacts into yahoo, as described in this post.

2. Group all the Yahoo contacts imported from facebook. Contacts -> Last Imported -> Select All -> Assign to Lists -> Go to the bottom and type a new list name.

3. Export all your yahoo contacts to CSV. There is no option to filter the contacts to be exported. (Contacts -> Actions -> Export All -> Yahoo CSV)

4. Open the CSV file in excel (or any other program capable of reading CSV in a table format). Filter your contacts, so only contacts from the category that you just created remain in the list (column F, "Category"). Do not remove the first row. Save the file as CSV.

5. Go to Gmail and import the last CSV file. Contacts -> Other actions -> Import.This procedure isn't short, but works.

tjsvariety I found it also helpful to export the csv and import into Gmail. Google is becoming my data hub.

mikeashworth re: errors using the import from Yahoo. Just export from yahoo as .csv and import into Gmail. They will appear gradually on +.

mikeashworth True. The chrome plugin that Facebook blocked was the obvious path, unfortunately Facebook decided to block it :(
